The Police are invading New York City one last time.

The band, including lead singer Sting, and Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced that the final concert of their reunion tour would be held in the City That Never Sleeps this summer.

“I have lived in New York City for a long time,” said Sting at a press conference before a jam-packed crowd in Times Square today.  “I consider this my city and it is our pleasure to have our last concert as a group in the Big Apple.”

Band members also said they would donate $1 million to the city’s program called MillionTreesNYC, which aims to plant one million trees throughout the city by 2017.

“I think it’s amazing that they are donating $1 million to revive the city,” said lif- long Police fan Lauren Ambrosio.  “With all the ‘go green’ publicity out there, the city is bound to be better than it has been in years.”

The first tour began at the now defunct downtown club CBGB’s in 1978 and though they split up in 1984, the group decided to get back together and go on tour to celebrate their 30th anniversary.

“This last Police concert is one for the records,” said Ambrosio.  “As someone born and raised in New York City, it’s an honor for them to bless us with their final performance.”
